Sanchez Family

I'll start at the beginning of my family's story on my mother's side.

Here is a quick view of the descendants of
Tomas Sanchez or if you prefer,
the ancestors of Felisa Sanchez.

Let's start with my Nana, Felisa Sanchez.

She was born in San Blas, Sinaloa, Mexico in 1882
This information was on her funeral notice and also obtained from her daughter Celia.
So far I have been unsuccessful in finding the actual birth record at the Familysearch site.
I think the reason being that most people born in Mexico have more than one name and no one in my family remembers any other names for her.

Felisa married three times and was widowed three times.
The majority of the family I keep in touch with come from these 3 marriages.
One other contact is from a daughter of her brother, Tomas Sanchez.

Felisa had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. I know most about Tomas and Mercedes, but hardly anything about the others. As you can see I don't even have their birth dates.

So please if any of my family is reading this and have any little bit of information on these grand aunts and uncles - Please send me an email!

Just the other day I was talking to my sister, Rita and she said she remembered that Tia Delfina had blond hair.

Well I'll end for today as my Nana's story is a very long one!

Changing My Family Blog Into A Genealogy Blog

I've decided to try and post here some of the research I have been doing on my family's ancestors and all the other side branches.

It should be fun and interesting especially for all the cousins I have connected to on Facebook!

I have not figured out yet how to get all the trees and charts posted.
I know I can probably copy and paste a doc here, but I would really like to post some pedigree charts.

I'm updating and cleaning up this blog.

Deleting older posts and pics. I've got too many blogs and picture sharing sites and I need to consolidate.

Seems everyone is either on MySpace or Facebook. At least the younger generation in my family!

My dad Pedro

Pedro proudly served our country in WWI

He enlisted on Oct 2, 1917 in Globe AZ.
He was sent to Camp Kearny in California as part of the First Arizona Volunteer Infantry.
The 158th Infantry Regiment was known, as the First Arizona Volunteer Infantry.
The Regiment was drafted into Federal Service for World War I, August 5, 1917 as part of the 40th Division.

The 40th Infantry Division (Mechanized) was born at Camp Kearney California at San Diego on 16 September 1917 in response to the nation's entry in to World War I.
Known simply as the 40th Division (there were not yet cavalry or armored divisions) it was made up of National Guard unit from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. It was soon decided that the new division's nickname would be the "Sunshine" Division

He was honorably disharged on April 7, 1919
His rank was sargeant of Company L, 158th Infantry, US Army
He served overseas in France from June 28, 1918 - March 11, 1919

My Dad's Medals

The "Croix de Guerre" (Cross of War) is a french award for bravery for military personnel mentioned in dispatches. There was a red ribbon with vertical green stripes that went with this award.

This is a web photo of the Victory Medal of WWI. Everyone who was shipped to Europe received one and my dad's had a bar across the top that said France.

Both medals have been passed down to my nephew Kurt who is now in the miltary.
